Shoes On The Danube
Short Story

Told from the perspective of a 7 year old girl hiding with her family from Nazi and local militia thugs in Budapest during World War II, this poignant story tugs at the heartstrings to shine a light on the real atrocities of this era.

At 3,492 words, this short story will have readers feel the sincere, innocent emotions of a child forced to endure this historic tragedy.  This is not a children's story.

Excerpt:
Walking down the cobblestone Budapest streets my shoes pinch my feet just a little, but Mommy shined them for me this morning and that makes me feel special. Today is my birthday and I am seven years old. I haven’t worn my nice shoes for a long time and the black leather sparkles in the cool morning sunshine. At home, we don’t wear shoes, only our socks or bare feet. We stay quiet so the mean people don’t find us.
